For over 70 years, Honeycomb has delivered innovative solutions for aviation maintenance operations which maximize aircraft readiness by reducing downtime and costs. We understand that it is about more than just producing quality parts and services. It is about the people – both on the ground and in the air – that keep the aircraft flying.
The year is 1948 and World War II has been over for three years. GIs have returned home and new businesses are springing up across America. The war proved the value of military aviation and the commercial aviation market is flourishing.
The company founders identify the need for a strong but lightweight material to be used in the manufacture and repair of aircraft. They develop and patent a lightweight aluminum material in the shape of honeycomb and Honeycomb Company of America is born in Bridgeport, CT.
Now in its eighth decade of continuous operation and relocated to Sarasota, FL with a 12-acre facility comprising 12 buildings totaling 150,000 sq/ft, the company has become a premier supplier of bonded aerostructures for both military and commercial aircraft. Honeycomb is now recognized as a leader in the manufacture of bonded metal-to-metal, metal-to-honeycomb, and honeycomb to epoxy-composite assemblies for fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.
